DGVT Ice Bucket Open 2019

The 13th Annual Ice Bucket Open will take place on February 24, 2019 at Center Chains DGC in Waterbury, VT!

Nostalgic downtown Waterbury VT

The Ice Bucket Open is Vermont’s participant in the Ice Bowl. A disc golf charity event held in January or February with a mission to increase local awareness of disc golf by raising charitable funds to combat hunger and other related activities. Ice Bowls emphasize fun over competition in order to promote a positive image for disc golf by publicizing charitable fundraising and community outreach. Since 1996, Ice Bowl events has raised over $4,200,000 worldwide.

There are 3 “official rules” for Ice Bowl Events:

1) Under no circumstances, may an Ice Bowl® be cancelled or postponed because of weather conditions.
2) No wimps or whiners are allowed.
3) There are no excuses for not attending. Either be there or be called out as a wimp!
Each year there are over 200 Ice Bowls worldwide and the Ice Bucket Open is not only one of the coldest but we also are one of the most successful in terms of overall money raised!
2013 – 6th place $8,415
2014 – 3rd place $9,504
2015 – 3rd place $12,143
2016 – 3rd place $15,143
2017 – 2nd place $14,100
2018 – 2nd place $13,187

How do we raise so much money? Well, a few different ways….
Fundraiser discs
Pre-Event Zero Gravity fundraiser
Registration Fees
Mulligans. Yes, you can buy mulligans!
Local Fundraising Grants
Raffles. This year we will be raffling off a Discatcher Sport Basket.
We have never sold out the event at 72 players but I always say our little event has a BIG punch! Last year we hit 62 players.

The Sherwin Art Glass snowman trophies are a BIG hit as the top overall winner gets one, along with the top singles round, top doubles team, top volunteer and top fundraiser.
We will have a chili and cornbread lunch at the Grange Hall across the street where we will also have the players meeting and awards ceremony.
We are proud to be sponsored by many local businesses and members of our Vermont Disc Golf community.
